HISTORIA

Based on the belief of forest churches in the chain of interdependence between humans and non-humans, the proposal is a feasible, modular and replicable facade to address the gap made by unsustainable human actions. Through fibers, the façade catches water from the wind to protect vegetation and foster conditions for reforestation and landscape restoration. Actual forest churches promote an ideology of interdependence between species where the hierarchy is the understanding of nature (wonder of God) from a holistic view. However, unsustainable human actions such as agriculture, farming, and animal husbandry have affected this dynamics chain. In this way, the focus of our design aims to address the gap by reconnecting these relationships through a self-construction project, where every phase of the design is a healing step for the broken dynamics in the region. Based on the stone walls done to protect the remaining vegetation in the forest churches, the design is a facade wall capable of protecting actual plants and fostering conditions for reforestation and landscape restoration.
